The Mustards - An Audience with Sweetheart.

Devised by Sam Toft while she was strolling along the Promenade at Brighton & Hove, 'The Mustards' offer a breezy portrait of life on the English seaside. Depicting the easy comfort that comes from years of being together, Ernest Hemmingway Mustard and his wife Violet can often be spotted having tea or going on a romantic outing to that same Promenade where they were first created by Toft. When not with Violet, Ernest can be found taking long walks and bike rides with his trusty (if grumpy) Jack Russell, Doris. The Mustard prints are at once whimsical and laid-back, an expression of the artist's own personality. Sam Toft continues to live and work in England, using primarily mixed media, pencil, oil pastel and coloured ink.
